Nová Ves has a very good location in terms of a wonderful surrounding countryside. The Iron Mountains rise up in the North and mingle with the Iron Mountain Protected Landscape Area, where many interesting historical and natural features can be found, e.g. Polom, Oheb, Lichnice, and Lipka. A small historically rich town called Vilémov lies to the South-West. To the North-East of Nová Ves lies a beautiful rock valley called Údolí Doubravy, and to the South lie many forests along the uplands.

In 1813, a noblewoman from the de Fin lineage established the first school in the castle in Nová Ves of which she was the owner. Based on entries recorded in the Chronicle, the school was located in building number 56. The school was also run in building numbers 62 and 112. In 1904, work was begun on the construction of a new school building (no. 114) and this commemorative event was held in the presence of noblemen from the Alois and Anna Mixa Family. The primary school of today continues to exist in this building.
